After various conquests against Mughals and defeating hill Rajas, Banda Singh along with Mata Shushil Kaur, Mata Sahib Kaur and some Sikhs settled at a lonely place on the Bank of the river Chanab, in the Jammu state. It was called Dera Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. Besides having ashes of Banda Singh Bahadur, the shrine also has an arrow, a huge sword and some weapons given to Baba Banda Singh by Guru Gobind Singh. Annually, thousands Hindu-Sikh devotees from across India visit the shrine all year around, especially during the occasion of Vaisakhi. This is counted as one of the important pilgrimage and tourist destination of Jammu region.
