Holy Sant Baba Gurdev Singh Jee came to Fresno from Winnipeg, MB (Canada) on May 6, 1984 with Ragi Jatha (Group of Monks) for the first time. They stayed here for two weeks. The Sangat requested Poojniya Baba Jee to build Nanaksar Gurdwara in Fresno. Poojniya Baba Jee gave the permission to Sangat to buy the land in 1998 in Vancouver when they visited him there. In 1999, the present land was bought. Poojniya Baba Jee sent the first Ragi on September 28, 1999 and first kirtan started on October 2, 1999. Poojniya Baba Jee visited Fresno in 2001 for 9 days and in 2003 for 12 days. Poojniya Baba Jee laid the foundation of the new gurdwara on July 24, 2005 during his visit from July 18 to August 2, 2005. The construction work was completed in June 2007 with the arrival of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee in the new building on June 24, 2007. Grand inauguration ceremony was hosted on June 30, 2007 with the completion of Sri Sampat Akhand Paths.
