Sikh Sangat London East also known as Francis road Gurdwara or Leyton Gurdwara, is a community Gurdwara which is run as a registered charity. To find out more about what a Gurdwara is, click here. We are the only Gurdwara situated a stones throw away from the Olympic village and we are close to Leyton station on the red line for those city sikhs and commuters to reach us via the central line.
Our aim is to promote religon and the social hertiage of Sikhs in East London & to promote the advancement of education and the relief of poverty.
The Gurdwara is run by a committee of 18 board members and up to 3 co-opted members, with the general secretary heading the board. Their dutys are to uphold the mission of the Gurdwara, and to run the religious, social, economic and political affairs of the Gurudwara in a civil, productive and transparent manner. The Granthis/Gyanis provide the service of reciting, singing and explaining the hymns, and ensuring that the maryada (conduct) of the sangats worship is kept in accordance with the basic principles of Sikhi.
