Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar is located near the slum area of Dongripada. It not only performs daily sikh rituals for the sikh community but also support the people of the slum area for their basic day to day requirements like clothes, education and moral support. A desired need for a place of worship and communal service to cater for the needs of the community of Sikhs in Ghodbunder Road and its surrounding areas led to the establishment of Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Dongripada Thane in August 15th 2000. The Gurudwara in Kolshet air force area has a big contribution in the formation of Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar later on the Gurudwara has been shifted from kolshet to Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Dongripada. In the year 2000, the sangat located a plot on Ghodbunder road in Dongripada area which was available for sale. The owner of the house agreed to give the house for a noble cause. With great contribution of the sangat the plot was purchased on rent and built the Gurudwara, with the grace of Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji the first prakash of Sri Guru Granth sahib at Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Dongripada was done on 15th August 2000. Later in year 2005, the land for the Gurudwara Sahib was purchased and the kar seva for the construction of new building was started. The constitution and guiding principles of the Gurdwara align with Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar (The Akal Takht is highest seat of temporal authority of the Khalsa). Since its establishment, Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar has been consistently involved in providing help and sharing (Vand Chhakna) with the needy and homeless people of Ghodbunder road. Our Gurudwara also provides Classes for Gurmukhi Reading, Writing and Gurbani Kirtan Learning.
