The IOWA SIKH ASSOCIATION is a non-profit organization. The Primary goal of this organization is promote the principles and ideals of Sikhism by dissemination of information to all communities. The association provides a climate for participation in the spiritual, charitable cultural and educational activities to society under the principles of Sikhism.
The Iowa Sikh Association started as a monthly meeting in community hall for prayers and Langar (community kitchen). The tiny sapling grows into a plant and then tree by the grace of god. Later the association build a Gurudwara, which is currently located at West Des Moines.
The Gurudwara is open all days with Weekly Prayer on each Sunday and free community meal.
The Association encourages the learning of Gurumukhi , recitation of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy scripture of Sikhs and recitation of hymns (Kirtan) from the Holy Book.
